What is Disc Golf?
Generically speaking, everything you want to know about the sport
of disc golf in general can be found here http://pdga.com/information.php.
But the best way to find out what it's all about is to just see
for yourself! If you're from the Philadelphia area, come
on down to Sedgley Woods on Saturday afternoons and catch either
a Tag Round, Monthly Tournament or PDGA sanctioned event actually
in progress! Or check our events
schedule to see what else is going on. If you're not a local,
use the PDGA
Course Directory to find a course near you.
What are the Rules?
Just Like any sport, Disc Golf has an official rule book with everything
you wanted to know and some things you didn't. It can be found and
searched on the PDGA site at this link: http://pdga.com/rule_book.php
How do I get Started?
All you need is a disc and a course. Golf discs can be found at
some sporting goods stores (usually have to ask) and at various
on-line sites. In general, Disc Golfers are a laid-back friendly
sort and will probably be more than happy to show you a thing or
two about what they know. Frequently, they've even got some extra
discs just to hand over to "newbies" to encourage them
to keep at it. So don't be shy, just ask!
The best way for new players to learn quickly, meet some of the
club members and begin to understand tournament play in a casual
atmosphere is to come down for Thursday
or Saturday Doubles.
Also, check out our LINKS
page for other general information about disc golf.
Who can I play with?
The e-mail addresses of all of the Board of Directors and other
Sedgley Friends are availible here.
Any one of us would be more than happy to either take you out to
Sedgley Woods ourselves or hook you up with someone who's availible.
Also, you can sign up and post to the Friends
of Sedgley Woods Message board and see who's availible to show
you around. Most likely you'll get a bite or two.
