The Friends of Sedgley Woods are proud to be affiliated with the
following non-profit organizations in and around Philadelphia.
SMITH MEMORIAL PLAYGROUNDS AND PLAYHOUSE - "Home of the
Giant SLIDE" is the charity for this years Paul
Fein Challenge 2002 Mid-Atlantic Disc Club Invitational.
A portion of the proceeds from this important regional event will
go to benefit the outstanding and worthwhile efforts of this long
time Philadelphia charity and it's work with the community and children.
The Mission Statement of the Smith Memorial Playgrounds and Playhouse
is to provide safe, creative, fun and accessible recreational facilities
and programs to children, families and caregivers of the Philadelphia
area, especially those with limited financial and social opportunity.
To support this noble and important cause please contact Frank
Senk Jr., our Tournament Director, for details. The Smith Mansion
will act as Tournament Central for this year's event. Providing
an attractive and welcoming place for not only the participants
of the disc golf portion of the event, but a place of gathering
and enjoyment for the families and in particular the children of
our MADC family. The Smith Playground is filled with great playground
activities that will engage children throughout the day and is a
closed in and protected area from the public. Its most famous attraction
is the Giant Slide. It will also be the site of our MADC Annual
Awards Picnic, where recognition for outstanding performance will
be awarded to MADC members who have distinguished themselves in
the 2002 season. So the folks here at the MADC and Friends of Sedgley
Woods like to extend a special invitation to the families that support
our club members to come out and enjoy the fun of the Smith Memorial
House. The organizing body of the FSW and MADC look forward to seeing
you out at this years event. - Nick Kight, PFC2002MADCi Assistant
