In addition to my love for the game of disc golf, my inspiration
for this "collection" came from some buddies at a former
job of mine who passed their time by writing Spam haikus. I am not
lying . . . this is true.
I was also inspired, of course, by all my friends and homies at
Sedgley Woods, especially John Stash, Willie, Prof. Rick, Snuffy.com,
Clive the Kid, Leif "the flickmeister", Dave Prue, Joe
THE, John Duesler and many others I can't recall right now due to
short-term memory loss. Oh yeah, thanks to Slayer, too. He helped
set me straight - what up Bill?
To those "uninitiated" in the art of Haiku, here's a
short introduction:
Haiku is traditional Japanese poetry - a 17-syllable verse-form
with three traditional lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Many variations
exist. Here are a few of my own - mostly overstable (mentally and
plastic-ally).
#1
Approaching the tee
My partner says to me, dude
That was some good stuff
#2
No bogies! He cried
Watching wild drive climb and dive
Lots of wood - not good
#3
I stand in tee box
Revel in sky and sunshine
Filtering through Woods
#4
My Cobra and me
Traversing haphazardly:
Blue tee ace runs (yoink!)
#5
Me and my plastic
From Philly to Sweet Freedom
Hucking and putting
#6
Through the purple haze
She flicks her wrist, releasing
Disc: smoke-smile, chain drain
#7
Disc Golf zen requires
A steady hand; do not be
Fooled by the sun spots
#8
Huck for show, putt - dough
That's what Phil(Rossopher) says
Good advice? Wisdom.
#9
In is in is in.
With or without chains, lucky,
Low, high, wobble, skip
#10
Barley and hops and
A bag of plastic. You're friends
Play in hailstorms, too
